7v7 Rules - Middle School

Team Structure:

  1. Each team can have up to 7 players on the field at a time.

  2. A team can have 6 outfield players and 1 goalkeeper on the field.

Substitutions:

  1. Substitutions can be made anytime during the game when the ball is out of play, and there is no limit.

  2. Outgoing substitutes must leave the field before the replacement enters.

  3. New players can immediately participate and receive the ball.

  4. Substitutes must stay outside the field, and spectators cannot enter.

Game Structure:

  1. The match consists of two halves (30-minute games).

  2. Each half lasts 15 minutes.

  3. The Kick-off is decided by 1 player from the opposing teams playing ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS. The winner chooses who has the kick-off first half.

  4. The first half starts with one team's kickoff, and the second half starts with the other team's kickoff.

  5. The game restarts with a kickoff after a goal is scored.

  6. Teams can change their goalkeeper at any time.

  7. Only one person can be inside the goalkeeper's half-circle/area.

  8. Half-time is a straight change with a five-minute break.

Field Restrictions:

  1. There are two marked goal/penalty areas on the field.

  2. Only the defending goalkeeper can play and handle the ball inside the goal area.

General Play:

  1. There are no off-sides.

  2. Throw-ins.

  3. A goal can be scored from any point on the field.

  4. Goalkeepers can score against opponents except for a dead ball goal kick.

  5. A goal is scored when the entire ball crosses the goal line.

  6. Goals can be scored by any player on the field, from corner kicks, kick-ins, and direct free-kicks.

Re-Starting the Game:

  1. The goalkeeper must throw or pass the ball to restart play from their area without going beyond the halfway line or touching another player. If they do, they retake the restart.

  2. If the ball goes out of play behind the goal line, a corner kick or goal kick is awarded based on the team with the final touch.

  3. If the ball goes out of play over the sideline, a throw-in is awarded based on the team with the final touch.

Free Kicks and Penalty Kicks:

  1. All free kicks are direct.

  2. Opposing players must be at least 10 yards away from the spot of the free kick. The referee can issue a warning if they don't retreat.

  3. If a free kick is awarded near the goal area, it can be moved up to 5 yards backward to allow defenders space.

  4. Penalty kicks are taken from the penalty spot.

Player Safety:

  1. Rough play and actions like spitting, biting, pushing, pulling shirts, tripping, or using inappropriate language are not allowed. They result in free kicks and warnings.

  2. Players cannot wear jewelry, including watches or earrings, during play. The referee's discretion applies.

  3. All players must wear shin guards and approved shoes (cleats or closed-toe). The socks must completely cover the shin guards.
