Organization & Set-Up

Field Setup:

  • If space allows, set up two small-sided soccer fields using the domes as boundaries. Each field should be approximately 50 yards long and 30 yards wide.

  • Use the small goals provided, or create goals using cones.

Student Zones:

  • Hydration Station: Designate a clear area close to the fields where all students can place their water bottles and personal items. This will minimize time away from the activities for hydration breaks.

  • Equipment Zone: Create a designated equipment area using cones as a boundary. Students should not enter this zone to retrieve items unless instructed to do so.

ALWAYS Prioritize

  • Safety First: Thoroughly check the field for any hazards before starting activities.

  • Punctuality: Arrive on time and be prepared to start sessions promptly.

  • Respect: Maintain a polite, well-mannered, and humble attitude towards all school staff.

  • Organization: Come prepared with all necessary equipment and a well-structured plan for the session.

  • Enthusiasm: Project a positive, engaging, and enthusiastic demeanor to inspire the children.

  • Professionalism: Maintain a consistent and professional approach throughout your interactions.

  • Enjoyment: Remember to have fun and create a positive experience for both yourself and the children.

Water Breaks & Heat Management

  • Regular Breaks: Provide children with water breaks between activities, approximately every 15-20 minutes.

  • Access to Water: Never deny a child water, but encourage them to wait until the next break if possible.

  • Shade on Hot Days: When temperatures reach 90°F or higher, utilize shaded areas for water breaks and rest.

  • Health Concerns: If a child complains of dizziness or a headache, direct them to the supervisor immediately.

  • Appropriate Attire: Kindly request children to remove hoodies or jackets on hot days.

Coaching Styles & Communication

  • Mindful Communication: Be mindful of your words and actions around young children. Maintain a firm but friendly approach when giving instructions.

  • Avoid Sarcasm: Refrain from using sarcasm as children may misinterpret it and feel insulted.

  • Energy and Enthusiasm: Foster engagement by demonstrating energy and enthusiasm during activities.

  • Respectful Participation: If a child chooses not to participate, kindly ask them to observe or return to the supervisors.

Injuries or Issues

  • Prompt Response: If a student is injured or expresses health concerns, immediately remove them from the session and inform the onsite aids/teachers.
