Additional Games.

Here are some additional fantastic and super fun game options you can incorporate into your sessions or switch things up with as needed

Games.

What Time is it Mr. Wolf - 10 minutes

Setup:

  • Players line up at one end of the playing area (the "coop"). They are the "chickens" and can make chicken noises for fun!

  • One player stands at the opposite end of the area. This player is "Mr. Wolf."

How to Play:

  1. Chickens Advance: The chickens take a few steps towards Mr. Wolf and then call out together, "What's the time, Mr. Wolf?"

  2. Wolf Tells the Time: Mr. Wolf responds with a time between 1 and 12 o'clock (e.g., "It's 3 o'clock!").

  3. Toe Taps: The chickens then do that number of toe taps in place (e.g., 3 toe taps for 3 o'clock).

  4. Repeat: The chickens take a few more steps forward and repeat the question.

  5. Dinner Time!: At any point, Mr. Wolf can shout "Dinner time!" and chase the chickens back to their coop.

  6. Caught!: Any chicken tagged by Mr. Wolf before reaching the coop becomes the new Mr. Wolf.

Tips:

  • Make sure the playing area is large enough for the chickens to have some distance to cover.

  • Encourage the chickens to be loud and have fun with their chicken noises.

  • Mr. Wolf can try to trick the chickens by varying the time they call out or by suddenly shouting "Dinner time!" when they are close.

Introduce New Conditions

  • You can add cones at the area near Mr. Wolf, where the chickens try to steal their feed before the Wolf gets them.

  • Encourage the chickens to use strategy - sometimes it might be better to do toe taps and wait for a better opportunity to grab a cone!

  • This variation adds an extra element of risk and reward to the game.

Games.

Star Wars - 15/20 minutes

Set-up

  • Create a playing area approximately 50 yards long and 30 yards wide. This is the "spaceship."

  • Each player has a soccer ball.

  • The coach takes on the role of "Darth Vader."

How to Play

  1. Spaceship Exploration: Players dribble their balls within the spaceship, keeping them under control.

  2. Darth Vader's Attack: The coach (Darth Vader) moves around the spaceship, trying to kick the players' balls out of bounds ("into space").

  3. Forfeit for Lost Balls: If a player's ball goes out of bounds, they must perform a forfeit (e.g., 10 toe taps or 10 sole touches) before returning to the game.

  4. Command Challenges: The coach calls out different Star Wars-themed commands, and players must react accordingly:

    • "Cruise": Dribble the ball at a comfortable pace using both feet.

    • "Hyperspeed": Dribble the ball as fast as possible while maintaining control.

    • "Air Brakes": Stop immediately and place one foot on top of the ball.

    • "Force Field": Quickly find space and perform 3 turns using both feet.

    • "Jedi Force": Pretend to use their imaginary light-sabers to battle each other while keeping control of their ball.

Games

Alligator Alley - 10 minutes

Set-up

  • Divide the players into pairs.

  • Each pair gets one ball and stands 5-10 yards apart, facing each other.

  • Imagine the space between them is a "river" with "alligator heads" sticking out of the water “cone”.

How to Play

  1. Players try to kick or "strike" their ball so it hits and knocks over the cone feet (the alligator head).

  2. Each successful hit earns a point.

  3. Play for a set time or until a certain number of points is reached.

Coaching Points:

  • Positioning: Stand slightly to the side and a few steps back from the ball.

  • Contact Point: Focus on making contact with the laces of the shoe.

  • One Motion: Encourage players to strike the ball in one fluid motion as they move towards it.

  • Follow Through: Remind them to follow through with their kicking leg in the direction of the target.

  • Both Feet: Make sure players practice striking with both their left and right feet.

  • Fun Saying: "Laces are for aces, toes are for bozos!"

Remember:

  • Keep the game fun and lighthearted.

  • Offer plenty of encouragement and positive feedback.

  • Adjust the distance between players based on their skill level.

  • Emphasize proper technique and safety.

This game is a great way to practice striking the ball with accuracy and power, while also having fun with a silly theme!
