Sleeping Giant
Red Light, Green Light Style
Objective:
Players try to steal as many pieces of treasure (cones) as possible without being caught by the Giant.
Set-up:
Mark a playing area with cones or domes.
Place cones (treasure) in the middle of the area.
Select 1 player (or the coach) to be the Giant.
The rest of the players line up at the opposite end (their “castle”).
How to Play:
The Giant pretends to be asleep, facing away from the group.
Players quietly sneak forward to steal one piece of treasure at a time and bring it back to their castle.
When the Giant suddenly turns around and “wakes up,” players must freeze.
If the Giant sees a player moving, that player must return to their castle and start again (without treasure).
If a player already has treasure, they may run back to their castle—even if the Giant is awake.
Play continues until all treasure is collected or time is up.
Progressions / Variations
Players move in different styles (zombies, animals, robots).
Use different objects with point values (e.g., bib = 1 point, tall cone = 2 points).
Giant can call out moving players and try to tag them before they return to their castle.
Lay down Hula Hoops or Spots around the area to act as Safe Zones (when players stand on them, they are invisible to the Giant).
