Crazy Tag Soccer

Game Explained

Space:
Students stay in marked area. A field you use for a game will broadly be applicable.

Task:
Everybody is it, and everybody must travel with soccer ball at all times. If tagged they go down on one knee. They are released if their tagger is tagged or you as the coach shout ‘Crazy’.

Equipment:
Everybody has a ball that they keep with them through the task. You’ll notice they probably leave their ball when they go to tag. Explain how they must remain in close proximity to their ball.

People:
Everybody plays the same role.

Outcomes –Travel with the ball. Accelerating, decelerating, turning, traveling with awareness of space and threats

Variations/ Progressions

  1. Space: Adjust area to suit numbers/abilities. A smaller field will mean more turning, bigger more accelerations and more ‘tags’ are made

  2. Task: You can add some differentiation to the task by asking more advance/older players to ‘challenge’ themselves by dribbling with the ball in a certain way, that is likely slower, to begin with i.e., non-dominant foot only.

  3. Equipment: As with ‘stuck in the mud,’ you could add dots as safety for a limited time and a challenge of how they access/access and exit the zone.

  4. People:  N/A.
