Stuck in the Mud
Game Explained
Space:
Students stay in the marked area. A field you use for a game will broadly be applicable.
Task:
If tagged. Students freeze in a tree pose. They are released by a fellow student traveling under their arm.
Equipment:
Everybody has a ball they keep with them through the task. The taggers hold a bib/cone to identify them as taggers. Cones mark the designated area where the game is played. Dots as safety zones (3-5 sec, one student per dot.)
People:
Identify 2/3 of taggers
Outcomes – Travel with the ball. They are accelerating, decelerating, and turning.
Variations/ Progressions
- Space: Adjust area to suit numbers/abilities. A smaller field will mean more turning, bigger more acceleration.
- Task: If tagged. Students freeze in a wide tree pose. They are released by a fellow student passing it through their legs.
- Equipment: Taggers don’t have a ball. Dots as safety zones, but students must move off the dots backward.
- People: Increase or decrease the number of taggers (link to space –i.e., bigger space, more taggers).
