Jellyfish Tag
Objective:
Jellyfish try to tag and “sting” other players until no free swimmers are left.
Set-up:
Mark a playing area with cones/domes.
Choose 3 players to be the jellyfish, each holding a hula hoop.
Decide on a time limit or play until all swimmers have been tagged.
How to Play:
Jellyfish chase swimmers and tag them with their hands while holding onto the hula hoop.
When tagged, the jellyfish place the hula hoop over the player’s head down to the ground—this means the player is “stung.”
The stung players stand outside the play area.
Once 3 players are waiting outside, they become jellyfish and each receives a hoop to join the game.
Progressions / Variations
Edge Taggers: Stung players standing outside can tag anyone who comes too close. If they tag a swimmer, they switch places.
The Crab & Oyster: Add 1 crab with a foam ball (the “oyster”). If the crab successfully throws the oyster through a jellyfish’s hoop, all stung players are freed and return to the game.
Time Chase: Play in short rounds (e.g., 3–4 minutes) and reset with new jellyfish each round.
